5 Things to Know About Brow Lift Recovery
Brow lift surgery, also known as a forehead lift, is a popular cosmetic procedure available to both women and men. If you are dissatisfied with the overall look of your brows or are experiencing sagging brows or deep creases across your forehead, this is likely a great treatment option for you. A brow lift can also be done alongside other facial cosmetic procedures. But what can you expect after the procedure? Let’s take a look at a few things you’ll want to know about the brow lift recovery process.
Expect Swelling and Bruising
Swelling and bruising are normal after most cosmetic surgical procedures, and a brow lift is no different. You’ll notice these side effects right after surgery, but they will start to ease as you begin to heal and recover. You can minimize the swelling by keeping your head elevated at all times. Have pillows on hand to prop up your head on the couch and in bed. Using a cold compress on the affected area can also help reduce swelling and bruising. Place the compress on the affected area for 20 minutes and take it off for 20 minutes.
Itching and Discomfort
After brow lift surgery, you will have some discomfort around the forehead area. Dr. Berman will probably prescribe pain medication to help ease any pain you’re in. Itching around your incisions is another side effect you may experience. These symptoms are normal, but it’s crucial to avoid scratching so you don’t damage or tear your sutures before the incision is properly healed.
Avoid Strenuous Activity
You should limit your activity for the first two weeks after your brow lift procedure. Although you can resume many of your regular daily tasks and go for light walks, Dr. Berman will let you know when you can return to more strenuous activities. This means no heavy lifting or aggressive exercise during this time.
Stay Hydrated
Drinking plenty of water as you recover will not only ensure you’re properly hydrated and don’t dehydrate, it will also help the healing process. By aiding the healing process, drinking more water can also ensure any scarring you have is very minimal.
