The Importance of Following Post-Operative Instructions
There is a lot a patient has to absorb in the pre-op and perioperative period. Patients and family are excited, nervous, and oftentimes overwhelmed by elective surgery. Everyone wants an optimal result. So how do you get one? Usually, the first step has already happened: the surgery. The second step is following your post-operative instructions.
Some post-op instructions may seem super conservative. What is an extra week of resting for a lifetime of happiness? Everyone is nervous in the post-operative period—fearing pain, being sick to the stomach, wound weeping, and red staining of their clothing or fabrics, taking the correct medicines at the correct time and for the correct number of days. It is a daunting process.
When should I take a shower? When can I shave? What exercises can I do? Can I tan? Can I sit in the sun? What shouldn’t I do? When can I work out? There are a plethora of “dos and don’ts.” My post-operative videos will probably answer most of your questions. Certainly, there are generic questions and answers, and some highly specific questions related to the particular procedure/surgery you may have.
The team at Berman Plastic Surgery & Spa strives to give you the best experience with the best care possible. We have compassionate and knowledgeable staff. Please feel free to call, but check out these videos. I’ll bet you will find them helpful to guide you safely through your healing process.
Certainly, if you have any questions, please feel free to call the office. Just enter the PASSWORD that you received in your post-surgical email to view the videos.
