Lift and redefine your cheek bones
Facial volume loss is an unavoidable part of the aging process. For some, this can cause flattened cheeks or sagging in the midface. Others might have naturally flat of undefined cheekbones. With cheek implants, patients can achieve the appearance of lifted, more defined cheek bones.
Cheek implants are used during the cheek augmentation procedure to enhance the appearance of the cheek bones and create better harmony among the facial features. Cheek implants are composed of a silicone shell filled with cohesive gel. The implants come in a variety of shapes and sized based on the patient’s anatomy, concerns, and goals for their procedure. The implants are surgically placed under the facial tissue for a natural-looking enhancement.
Candidates for cheek implants are those who have experienced facial volume loss with age or after a dramatic weight loss resulting in flattened cheeks and sagging. Patients who have naturally small or poorly defined cheek bones can also benefit from a cheek augmentation with implants to enhance their appearance. Successful candidates must be prepared for a surgical procedure with incisions to have their implants placed. The best candidates will be in good physical health with no major health conditions.
The cheek augmentation with implants will be performed under local or general anesthesia to ensure patient comfort. An incision will then be made either within the mouth or under the lower eyelid where they can be easily concealed. The implants will then be placed under the tissue for natural-looking results. The incision will then be closed and bandaged.
After cheek augmentation with implants, patients can expect some swelling and discomfort for the first few days. Patients should avoid putting pressure on the face while sleeping and keep the head elevated during recovery. Strenuous activity and exercise should be avoided for several weeks. Dr. Berman will provide patients with more detailed instructions for their recovery that should be followed closely to ensure successful results.

The initial recovery period for cheek implants can take 6-8 weeks until you are back to normal daily activities. The cheek implants, however, may not be fully healed for up to 6 months after the surgery.
There may be some scarring near the incision site. Dr. Berman will make the incisions in inconspicuous places to keep scars well-hidden so as not to disrupt your appearance.
