What is Belotero?
Belotero is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) filler. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is responsible for providing the skin with moisture and hydration. When placed under the skin, Belotero adds instant volume to fill in lines and wrinkles. The formula is eventually dissolved and safely eliminated by the body.
Who is a Candidate for Belotero?
Candidates for Belotero are those who experience moderate to severe smile lines around the nose and mouth and vertical lip lines. Both men and women can choose Belotero when they are not ready for or do not require a surgical procedure to address their signs of aging. Patients also choose fillers like Belotero to prolong the results of a previous procedure. Those with severe skin allergies or other skin conditions may not be candidates for treatment with Belotero. Belotero is also not recommended for those that are pregnant or breastfeeding.
What to Expect During Treatment?
Prior to Belotero treatment, the skin will be cleansed and prepped and a topical numbing cream can be applied if patients are worried about discomfort during the injection process. A small amount of Belotero will then be placed in the treatment area, ensuring even distribution. This process only takes about 10-20 minutes to complete. Typically, only one treatment session is needed for noticeable improvements.
Recovery and Results
Belotero requires no downtime or recovery, so patients can get right back to their normal routine. Some mild side effects like redness, swelling, and bruising at the injection sites can be expected for a few hours after treatment. Patients should avoid rubbing the treatment area and avoid intense heat from hot water or direct sunlight.
The results of Belotero are instant for smoothed out lines and folds around the nose and mouth. The results of Belotero can last for six months or longer before a touch-up session is needed.
