Facelift Recovery – Day 1 to Day 30

Advancement in age leads to physical changes in the human body, one of which is aging of the skin. The most common way of reducing the effects of aging on the skin is by having a facelift. This procedure helps solve wrinkling and sagging skin. Most people only research what they will go through during the procedure, but it is also essential to know the recovery process, which often takes less time than when the results start manifesting.

At Berman Plastic Surgery and Spa, factors such as age and health conditions are used to estimate the duration you will take in your recovery. Dr. Berman offers New York Quality in a Florida practice. For a facelift procedure, it is advisable that patients follow various guidelines to ensure a smooth recovery.

Below we will look into a standard 30-day guide to recovery for a standard facelift procedure:

Recovery week 1

  • Day 1 – Due to the expected discomfort, you will need to take pain medication. Avoid strenuous activity, and have people around to help with complex tasks such as driving home.
  • Day 2- On the second day, your doctor will request a visit. The primary purpose of the visit is redressing and observe the condition of the swelling. You can return home should the surgeon find you are able to.
  • Day 3- As healing goes on, you should feel a bit at ease and even comfortably carry out basic tasks. In case there is some discomfort, ensure to keep taking the prescribed medication.
  • Days 4-6- By this stage, most pain should have faded away, and you will see significantly reduced swelling. If you are feeling okay, it is allowed for you to carry out basic house chores, and move around more.

Recovery week 2

This period covers days 7-14. It is normal to have mild swelling and bruises around the areas affected. Due to the swelling, you may feel a little numb around the affected skin arena, which is normal. By the end of the second week, you should feel ready to resume regular duties.

Recovery weeks 3 and 4

Since the removal of surgical stitches occurs between the first and third week, it is expected that you will have a little tightness hanging around in this period. At this duration, you will start seeing some results from the surgery. During the 3-4 weeks, it’s possible to go back to normal activities, with no sign of straining. Any fresh-looking scars should vanish in no time.

What happens after day 30?

After thirty days of post-facelift recovery, you are expected to return to normal and love the new look. Some side effects of the procedure may remain for a while, but should only be noticeable to you.
