Breast augmentation, also called augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure where implants are inserted to enhance the size, alter the shape and/or position, or change the texture of your breasts.
Preparing for Breast Augmentation
In preparing for a breast augmentation surgery, your doctor may ask you to:
- Undergo a medical evaluation and possibly a blood test
- Stop taking ant-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, aspirin, or any herbal supplements, as they thin the blood and can increase bleeding
- Avoid smoking
- Not drink alcohol within 24 hours prior to surgery
You may also receive special instructions regarding post-operative care.
Breast Augmentation surgery can be safely performed in an accredited office-based surgical suite like the one Dr. Berman has which is AAAASF, a licensed surgical center, or hospital. If receiving your breast augmentation in an outpatient facility make sure to have someone there to drive you to and from your procedure, as well as stay with you the first night after surgery.
