What Juvéderm Can Do for You
If you’ve heard about dermal fillers, you’ve probably heard about Juvéderm. But what is it? Juvéderm products are a collection of nonsurgical fillers tailored to specific parts of the face. They can add volume to areas that are sunken, wrinkled or have lost contour over the course of a lifetime. Here are some common questions about Juvéderm.
What is it?
Juvéderm uses hyaluronic acid, which is often found in the skin and helps repair various types of damage. This helps stimulate collagen growth which can help fill in problem areas. Hyaluronic acid is often used in many skincare products because of its usefulness in moisture retention and nutrient delivery. Each of the different Juvéderm formulas uses a different, modified form of hyaluronic acid. Each injection also contains lidocaine which reduces sensitivity and improves comfort.
What types of Formulas are there?
There’s a Juvéderm formula to treat most volume-related problems and with different potencies: Voluma, Vobella, Vollure, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Ultra. They can soften parentheses lines around the nose and mouth, add volume to cheeks, plump the lips, soften vertical lip lines between the nose and mouth, fill in sagging skin, and restore pitted acne scars. Some types are tailored to be surface-level injections to treat wrinkles, while others are meant for deep volume-restoration in the cheeks.
What is the treatment like?
Instilling Juvéderm is a simple procedure that can take from 15 to 60 minutes, depending on how many areas are being treated. Dr. Berman uses a blunt cannula for the placement of the Juvederm which allows for a more precise application of the product. While the infiltration of the Juvderm contains lidocaine to assist with comfort, a topical numbing cream can also be used. After your treatment, your results will be immediately noticeable and will last one to two years. With blunt cannula placement, patients rarely have bruising.
