Boca Raton Plastic Surgeon Cycles for MS Society
To Be Recognized at National Multiple Sclerosis Society South Florida Charity Dinner in May 2016
Last weekend, instead of relaxing after the week’s surgery schedule, Boca Raton Plastic Surgeon Dr. Jonathan Berman was cycling 150 miles to raise funds for charity. He was riding as part of the Mission MS team in Bike MS Breakaway to Key Largo, an annual 2-day bike tour to raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Dr. Berman has raised close to $6,000 of his $6,500 goal for this event. A doctor on a mission, he has helped to raise nearly $25,000 through Bike MS events since 2010 and sees his participation as a way to give back to the community while staying healthy and fit.
Dr. Berman was ranked 15th for his fundraising efforts last year for Club 151, which represents the top 151 fundraisers for the South Florida Chapter of the National MS Society. With help from generous supporters, the cycling enthusiast and philanthropist is striving to surpass his total from the previous year. Dr. Berman, along with other members of Club 151, will be recognized for his fundraising efforts at the charity’s upcoming fundraiser and awards dinner in May.
The Bike MS program was founded by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to raise money for multiple sclerosis research and other services. Bike MS events are now held in every state, pulling communities together by gathering support from local businesses, elected officials, residents, and people living with MS. Since its inception in 1980, Bike MS cyclists have raised more than $1 billion. These funds are used to support research for a cure for MS, while also providing programs that address the needs of people living with MS today.
Dr. Berman has been combining his love of cycling with his desire to give back to the community for years, strongly supporting Bike MS and participating in various bike-a-thons and rallies throughout Florida. He is president of the Boca Raton Bicycle Club. The Boca Raton plastic surgeon and avid cyclist also teaches helmet safety at local schools to underprivileged children, and sponsors, and is the official plastic surgeon for the annual Delray Beach Twilight GRANFONDO Bicycle Event.
